Hi,

Another sift through the postcards - (the cards are all loose and jumbled up - they have long ago parted company with the album pages they were attached to) - has revealed another picture of the family/neighbour group. The image shows the entire house.  The little boy is missing from this picture.

I'm also sharing this picture to the Restoration/Photo Identification page (although I asked the board moderator this morning to combine both threads to prevent any confusion.)

If the Medal of Honor was not a naval medal, then the only plausible candidate is David Jones who lived in Fayette County, Ohio (always assuming that the man in the picture was not wearing a medal that had been bestowed on someone else).  In 1900, David Jones lived on Church Street in Washington Court House, Fayette County.  I've looked at Church Street on Google street view but all of the houses appear to be newish; there is nothing resembling the house in this photo.  Still, this house looks like something that could have been in the town.

I think it is worth communicating with the local historical society to see if they recognize the house or any of the people in the photo.

Thank you for your assistance, Erato.

David Jones looks to be the only one who fits the bill - not navy and still alive into the 20th century. One niggle about him is- he dies in June 1911. My own thoughts about the images are that they were taken circa 1920 ??? but, of course, I could be completely off base about that.

There is also this chap  -  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elisha_Johns

According to Wikipedia his name has also been recorded as Jones (although it doesn't say where ).
There is a good photo of this man at the time of the civil war.

Looby :)

I think it says - Gerat Rademaker
                       Mr& Mrs Jones
a little ???? across the street
                        Mrs Huff
Could it be a little 'lady' across the street altered to read 'boy' maybe?

Yes that's what I thought too. Especially as the boy doesn't appear in the other photo.

Fascinating photos.

Thank you, Maddy..
I'm inclined to think the word lady has been replaced with boy - although it seems an odd error to make.

The photos/ postcards are indeed fascinating.
Out of all the images in the album these ones jumped out at me as being pretty special.
