all depends on the type of record, if it's from some sort of extracted record or submitted tree it might be correct, if it's from the BMD index to deaths, then it's incorrect and should be County Limerick, probably should also mention co. Cork which I think the district also extends into

The attachment (reply #10) was for an Margaret Ryan whose SRD was Kilmallock. Here's her death record, indicating the RD and SRD as Kilmallock (in County Limerick). She died in the Workhouse, Kilmallock on 6 January 1890.

No, they don't get off the hook that easily.

The incorrect Gorey ones I saw were multiples instances of entire tranches, all from GRO records.
I am pretty certain that Kiltagassan and Aghadowney are referring to similar instances where it is obvious that the county is completely inconsistent with the SRD - and the SRD and the county is what they (FamilySearch) have on the original record!

Well, actually.....

How about passenger lists from Queenstown (i.e. Cobh) to US?

Indexed as Queenstown, New Zealand to US!! 

Of course the really funny thing about that is that the Antipodean Queenstown is landlocked!   

Maybe that was Ancestry?

Whatever the case, it is as if they are trying to reinforce the stereotype about geographically challenged Americans.

Tithe Applotments shows Kilcummin parish, Mayo in with Kilcummin, Kerry.

There are a lot of townland and Parish names repeated.
Kilcummin
is in Kings, Kerry and Galway.

Ballingarry
Two in County Tipperary and one in CountyLimerick.

Templemore
One in County Derry and another in County Tipperary.

In the tithe record you can have both names as a townland and a Parish.

Where is America?
