Whipp family
« on: Wednesday 14 December 22 09:20 GMT (UK) »
I was contacted by someone looking for info on the Whipp family. What I was given is the following:
Sarah Whips 1832 marriage co Derry
her husband Thomas died about 1830(possibly in Enniskillen) so marriage may be remarriage. Their daughter Sarah married and moved to Manchester,England.
I found snippets of info about various Whipp family members but nothing on the above. Anyone want to see if they have more luck???
What I found:
Margaret Whips age 11 ( + age 12) born Enniskillen imprisoned for theft in Ireland

Marriage:
Thomas Whips  father: Thomas Whips
Eleanor Hix  father:William Hix
married 25 July 1853 Innismacsaint,Fermanagh
(Thomas must have died 1853- 1859 as Eleanor remarried)
Marriage:
Eleanor Whips (Hicks) widow
married 28 June 1859
Enniskillen,Fermanagh
to William Dane

Most of the Whipps(Whips) I have come across are in England- many in Lancashire area.
I came across one marriage for Thomas & Sarah that looks good but not in Ireland.
Thomas Whipe married Sarah Youngs 30 July 1818 in Norfolk,England. This may not be them at all however. Any ideas????

Enniskillen Registry Office- Elenor Whips, daughter of Richard Hicks (caretaker)

1853 marriage also lists her father as Richard Hix and his father Thomas Whips as a soldier-

A Margaret Whipps, daughter of Thomas (soldier), m.1866 at St. Michael's R.C. Church, Gorey, Co. Wexford. Her age given as 35 and groom was Thomas Harden.

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Note the following from a transcription:

County Londonderry, 25 February 1832, St. Columb's Church of Ireland, Charles Philips of Templemore married Sarah Whips of Templemore, witnessed by Lettitia Deastie.
