Thank you. I updated my post about maybe she was at a friend's house while her hubby was at work. Different times I suppose but I know I would have been with my wife if she was giving birth to my firstborn. I also know it wasn't the done thing for a husband to be around at the birth in those times.

Yes I just spotted that, marriage was 1889 so after the birth so that would explain the separate addresses on the birth certificate.

Maggie was at home with parents/siblings in 1881 (as Margaret) in Bowes.

I fear I may have confused you. Robert and Maggie are not the parents. Robert is the brother of the lady giving birth (Agnes nee Burton is the mother, Thomas the father)
