John Warren 75th Regiment of Foot
« on: Saturday 24 December 22 07:43 GMT (UK) »
Hi All,
Please help.
I am looking for personal information about my 5x Gfather John Warren who married in 1827.
Findmypast shows no results as soon as I enter his Unit.
I am looking for his attestation & service record.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Will

It looks like his army records have not survived, which suggests that he either died in service or was discharged without going on to pension.

Thanks for the replies. National Archives Kew is impossible as I live in South Africa.
Would the Regiment Muster Rolls still be available?

You may well be able to get a volunteer on Rootschat to do a lookup for you. Researchers can help too but are often expensive.

The muster books and paylists for 75th are at the National Archives but have not been digitised

I apologise for my late reply, thanks for the info. With an exchange rate of R22 to the pound I will not be using Kew.
Cheers Will

Hi,

I just wanted to mention that I posted on the Cheshire Board for a William Smith - 71st Regiment of Foot, and had several helpful replies which outlined sources that had been used.

If you used the "search" facility and checked the post, it might give you some pointers in your own search?

Alan

Thanks, Yes their troop movement was very similar to the 75th’s, both were in Ireland & Chatham.
Sadly I can find very little information regarding their time in either place.
Great new year & regards Will
