« on: Monday 26 December 22 10:49 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find dob etc for Fletcher West  boatbuilder of Byker. The only ref to him we have is the bap of his son Thomas  on 24.08.1746 at All Saints N/C and his other son Fletcher 25.03.1750.
It would be interesting to have his date of birth, marriage, death.
Also any info about the trade of the above Thomas, (we have his mge to Maragaret Redhead 2.8.1774 and the birth of their son Allen 10.11.1776)
Thanks in advance for any info.

There is also a baptism of Margaret, daughter of Thomas and Margaret West of Wincombe Lee, on 27th December 1778 at Long Benton.

Sadly, her burial was on 10th February 1782 at Newcastle-upon-Tyne, All Saints, daughter of Thomas West, Waterman.

Possible burial of her mother, Margaret, at the same church, on 30th January 1805. A poor house widow who died on 28th January.

David

P.S. The age of Margaret, 51, gives her birth as 1754. I can't find one near to that date in Northumberland, but there was one in Penrith, Cumberland, on 11th August 1754, daughter of Elizabeth, b***d

Other children of Fletcher West, in case you don't have them, all at Newcastle, All Saints.

Another Anne on 3rd June 1745. Elizabeth on 27th March 1748, Fletcher on 25th March 1750, Mary on 12th November 1752, Roger Taylor on 5th November 1758, and Martin on 4th January 1761.

Going by Roger's middle name there is a marriage of Fletcher Wat (sic) to Elizabeth Taylor on 15th July 1744 at Newcastle, All Saints.

David

P.S. Burials for children of Fletcher West, a waterman, at Newcastle, All Saints.

Roger on 25th November 1761
Elizabeth in 1750 but no precise date
Martin in 1761 ditto

Just found that all of the above is in numerous trees on Ancestry.

Thanks DCB. The very probable mge in1744 and list of children allows us to make a decent quess at Fletcher's birth year. Assuming he might have been about 21 when he wed, we could give him a birth year of circa 1723. Only an estimate but better than we had.
And his trade as waterman makes him the earliest of a long line of Tyne watermen in the West family.
