Hi I am looking for information on a Robert Burns Baxter, born in USA, maybe Alabama 1888/89
I believe his father to be Andrew Baxter, who trained as a mining engineer in Scotland, but cant make the link. No information on Robert's mother, although it is said she died 1888/89.
His father ? Andrew arrived at the home in USA of a fellow mining engineer (friends from Scotland) Mr and Mrs Kennedy. They brought up Robert Burns Baxter as Robert Burns Kennedy.
The middle name of Burns could come from ? His mother or a grandparent.

What makes you believe he was born as 'Baxter'?

What info. is given on his MC re his parents, what info. is on his DC re his parents.

You  need to invest in his marriage & death certs. for further info.
MC should name both parents with MMS, addresses, witnesses, occupations.
DC should name both parents with MMS, addresses, occupations & possibly a descendant or relation registered the death?

Annie, have Robert's descendants tried to find a birth registration for him in Tennessee? His life after birth is very well documented isn't it. Just his birth details and ancestors where there is no info. There a birth date for him of 12 January 1889 in his documents. Robert's WW1 draft documents give his birth place as Bon Air Tennessee.

I have entered the info from Military and tried to research from there, but nothing.
Another route was his mother’s ? Death 1889 but again a brick wall
