Elizabeth Gardner died Kensington - burial place?
« on: Wednesday 28 December 22 17:36 GMT (UK) »
Elizabeth Gardner died 1887 October 3, at Swinbrook Road, Kensington, aged 58.

I need help to discover where she was most likely to be have been buried?
She was from the labouring class, so it may have been a parish funeral.
Any help greatly appreciated.

I would suggest you write/email to the cemetery office of Kensington & Chelsea (Hanwell) cemetery, 31 Uxbridge Road, London. W7 3PX  Do not confuse this as some people do with an adjacent cemetery close by on the opposite side of Uxbridge Road which is the City of Westminster Hanwell cemetery.

The burial registers are not available anywhere online on my last contact.

BTW on Deceased Online there is A Elizabeth Gardner buried on 30th October 1887 in Manor Park Cemetery, East London. This site is 6-7 miles east across Central London from Kensington. You will need credits (£5 minimum purchase) to establish that persons age at death. Sight of burial register entry being £2 of your minimum payment. Better to eliminate the borough's resource first.

Thank you copper1 for the suggestion & links. I will Email the cemetery & find out whether she is there.

I had already found the Elizabeth in Manor Park Cemetery but discounted her as she was buried October 30th, whereas my Elizabeth died October 3rd. I can't imagine that she would have been dead that long above ground? However it would be worth checking if Kensington & Chelsea draws a blank.

Thanks again for your help, it's most bewildering to find a burial in London when most of your ancestors are Devonians!

Thank you Rosie99 for the post. This is not my Elizabeth, she was 57 when she died.

Hi Rosie99.
In 1881 she was at 3 Swinbrook Road, Kensington (RG 11/38 F19 P31).

She was born Elizabeth King at Great Malvern, Worcestershire & baptised at the Priory church there on May 10 1829.

She married William Gardner on March 31 1857 at St James, Sussex Gardens, Paddington.

Thank you  :).

I had wondered if she was buried with William but I see he is still in Swinbrook Road in 1891 & 1901 .

Hi Rosie99. William went to live with a daughter in Shrewsbury & was buried there in 1911.
