There is a very poor copy of the marriage record available in the Methodist Church records in St. Lambert -- by inverting the image (black and white), I can make out that his mother's name is Florence. The top half of the image is too light (almost blank) to read, but I believe this is your guy.

Blimey.
So very very grateful Eileen.  I am indebted.  Is it possible to get a copy of the image no matter how poor?
You have solved my mystery I believe.

Woohoo! I posted before realising Eileen has found good proof that Hubert -who went by his middle name Seymour, is your man. Fantastic!   The 30 Dec 1950 Obit I mentioned has his photo.

Hi Stuart  :)  HNY to you too !

I think it would be very worthwhile to  look as much into that chap who died 1950 , even if  just to eliminate.  The 30 Dec 1950 Obit would be the best bet as it is quite a long obit by the looks and therefore likely to have biographical information on his origins etc.

You can sign up for free and search ( and see snippets):
https://www.newspapers.com/
but to see the full obit - you'd have to subscribe ( but there are a variety of plans, and worthwhile, and you can do it on a monthly and cancel when you want).

I can see, there is a mention of that man serving in the Royal Navy WW1 and he was the president
METCALFE ROBINSON PRINTING SERVICE LIMITED - MOUNT ROYAL QC CANADA
Incorporated 4 July 1935
Dissolved 1976
Also known as METCALFE, ROBINSON PRESS LIMITED

All in all ...... very possible, I'd say.

Yes, I'm across the pond, in Auckland   :D
You won't be able to see any Birth registration, and nor the  death registration if it was after 1973. However, there are tips and tricks that might work..... feel free to PM me all the known details of who you're looking for and I will see what I can find for you? Happy to help if I can!

Cheers
AMBLY
Anne

I was also able to send the December 30, 1950 obit. Seems there were no children born to the couple but a sister in England did survive him.
