Clayhall Naval Cemetery Gosport
« on: Saturday 31 December 22 16:32 GMT (UK) »

I am researching  a man called Albert Stone. He was born in 1862 (I think in Dorset) and died in 1892. He is buried in Clayhall Naval Cemetery in Gosport. When I checked the graves database there is a large headstone to the officers and ratings and mention of the roll of honour kept at the chapel.

I understand that he was a private in the RMLI (again, I dont know what this is but doubt that its the RNLI). I would like to try and find out if his death, aged only 30, was due to some military action or accident, hence the communal headstone.

Thanks All,

I had expected that it was an multi fatal event rather than just his death. I will investigate with the additional information that you have provided.

I now see it was single drowning from the ship.
