1822 Burial of John Beacham in Kingham
« on: Sunday 01 January 23 20:15 GMT (UK) »
I’ve come across a tree which suggests that John Beacham was buried in Kingham in 1822. I’d be very grateful for details of age and abode. I think he may be John Beacham who was baptised in neighbouring Bledington, Glos, in 1734 and who married Elizabeth Andrews in Kingham in 1760. I think she was buried there in 1787.

There are various BEACHAM wills transcribed on the OFHS, though the only John BEACHAM of Kingam I can see there died in Nov 1819. This one's wife was Susannah.

Many thanks for this. It is very interesting, though it has certainly complicated matters considerably.

Kingham parish records transcription has a John Beacham buried there on 12 February 1822 aged 83 years from C.Western

Kingham 1787 Elizabeth Beacham buried 12 July aged 51 wife of John - no abode noted so presumably Kingham.

In case these are of interest:

The transcription includes John Beacham's marriage to Betty Andrews on 17 June 1760, both of Kingham.  Witnesses James Beamon and William Andrews. Conducted by R.Foley.
Note - the transcription was typed up and the ink has bled somewhat so witness Beamon may be Beacham or it may ne a mis-transcription of Beacham.

The transcriptions also have this marriage, Thomas Beaucham to Elizabeth Sadler on 19 Aug 1761, both of Kingham,  Witnesses James Fisher and Edmund Bennett. Again conducted by R.Foley.

From handwritten additions it looks like John, Thomas and Elizabeth all marked the records with a X , Betty and all the witnesses signed.  There is a (B) against both records but unfortunately what this means is not noted.

Just for clarification -  the parish register image for the 1822 burial at Kingham is for John BeachamP aged 83 - available on Ancestry.  Transcribed by them as Beauchamp!!

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
