Mullallys of Athgarvan, Kildare
« on: Wednesday 04 January 23 17:49 GMT (UK) »
Dear Rootschatters

In 1929, one of my grandmother's first cousins from Dublin by the name of Patrick Joseph O'Connor married a lady called Mary Margaret Mullally whose family hailed from Athgarvan, Newbridge, Kildare.

They were married in Mary's parish of Newbridge and then settled in Dublin to raise their two sons.

Patrick had a military history in the old IRA during the War of Independence, then spent a couple of years living in America from 1924 - returning to Ireland in 1927 where he settled again, got married and took up a job as a clerk with the Racing Board in Dublin.

He died in 1965.  Mary died in 1993.  Both passed away in Dublin.

As part of my wider family research, I've recently been focusing in on Patrick and his family and I'd be interested to know if anyone might have known him and his wife, or their families, or have other connections and further information, particularly photos of the family, which I'd love to see.

Many thanks

Just adding these links for others-

Mullaly family in 1911 census. Mary Margaret aged 8 yrs.
House 27 in Blackrath and Athgarvan (Newbridge Rural, Kildare).

Note that the marriage was dated 11 February 1928 (which presumably was an error by the deputy registrar).

Thank you Kiltaglassan for those two further notes and attached records.  I have seen some of those records but not all, so that's really interesting in helping me to trace out the wider branches of the Mullally family tree, which may then lead me to someone's recent living knowledge of our cousin Pat O'Connor.

Very much obliged!
