Situation is : 1 only adopted child - family living in Australia father is
near death aged 92 and mother can't remember much of anything.
We are trying to help from Auckland all by email/research to give
daughter something...

Father Colin died late last evening...Wife has poor memory

NZ family were just trying to give the adopted daughter in Australia
some family history...

I'll try someone on Geni.com for a marriage date...

*  Does your family maybe have wedding photos of the couple which might identify date/location ?

No, cousins here in NZ are very vague with such
I have asked a member of Geni for help in getting the year of marriage
but no response yet
Shame the online BMD site only allows free searches to 1943   :(

If they did marry in Auckland the event might have been recorded in the New Zealand Herald newspaper.

I recall that there was a lookup facility somewhere (I think you needed to write in). Possibly the Auckland branch of the NZ Society of Genealogists?

Can anyone help with this?

Otherwise I suggest that you search the various Australian State's BDM sites for their marriage.

Aren't marriage indexes only available up to 1956 on CD?  If this is so then you would need to apply to the Registry for a search.
