thank you.  The last time I have found both Rebecca and Patrick was in the New Brunswick Canada census 1870. So was Patrick not in the US during the census 1880.

Here is the family in the 1861 census for New Brunswick. His name is transcribed as "Harttey"

Here is the family in the 1871 census for New Brunswick.

Here is the family in the 1881 census for New Brunswick. The last name was transcribed as "Harsity" Rebecca is not listed, but Patrick is listed as married? Son James is listed just below them, with his wife & children. And just below James is son Robert, also married with his wife & children.

1881 Census:

This seems to indicate Rebecca might have died between 1871-1881?

I decided to look at the census in the US. I did a wide search will 1880 with no luck.  The census 1890 appears to be of little use, as a lot is missing. Would that be correct? Is there any thing else I could look at for this time frame.

There is an 1892 New York state census.  Some counties are missing, but Brooklyn/Kings County is available.

Looking at the 1881 census again, I think he was widowed, not married as the transcription says. Comparing the marital status letters(M/W) with others on the pages, his looks more like a “W” versus a “M”. So it appears Rebecca definitely died before 1881.

I don’t think Catholic Churches typically have death records unless they have a cemetery and a record of burying someone.

Here's a thought?

Their son Robert died in 1891.

Death: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XG4N-ZP8

His wife Margaret died in 1916. The place of internment is listed as Chapel Grove.

Burial Permits: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:Q2WK-GGC6

Assuming Rebecca died 1871-1881 in Kingston, would her son Robert who also lived there and died in 1891 be buried in the same place as his mother Rebecca? Robert's wife Margaret died in 1916, and we can assume she was buried with her husband.

There is only one cemetery listed for Chapel Grove, Kingston, New Brunswick, and that is St. Bridget's Catholic Church Cemetery.

https://www.findagrave.com/cemetery/2600595/st.-bridget's-catholic-church-cemetery

Perhaps contacting that church might help?

thanks for all the help.  there is nothing on findagrave. I am guessing it might now be time to go to Canada site for any more info. :)
