Thomas McKee Death 1864I am
« on: Sunday 08 January 23 01:27 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for information on Thomas McKee who died in 1864

It shows a Thomas McKee burial 15 Feb 1864 Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland, England, United Kingdom  Death Place Newcastle, All Saints, England.  This could be a church record

But the civil record has a Thomas McKie  died in 1864 in Newcastle which looks like the same person

Spelling is pretty fluid. I haven't seen the burial record to see how that is recorded, but I would think they are same person. The GRO has him as aged 44.

Just to confuse the issue further - familysearch have 2 records for the burial. One for 13 Feb 1864 - Thomas McKIE aged 44, the other 15 Feb 1864 Thomas McKEE, aged 44.  ???

I think you would need to see the actual image to ascertain which is correct.

For 13 Feb 1864 the document info brings up this number.  From 'catalogue search' for the microfilm number St Mary's Cathedral (RC Church) comes up.  So it seems burial ceremony was there.  The entry which will be held at Tyne and Wear Archives may record the cemetery of burial.  I think likely he died on the 13th and was buried on the 15th at a cemetery and not a Church as St Mary has no burial ground.
