Hello,
I've had alot of help previously in breaking down a brick-wall to discover the Vanhackovens link to my family tree. But I have some questions pertaining to Poor School records.
I have 2 young boys a William (born approx 1844) and Thomas (born approx 1849) who were admitted to the Poor School in Central London in 1854 according to the London Poor Law School District Register 1852-1918 (Ancestry). The record shows a number of columns one is "To which Union Chargeable" which has "City" written against the 2 boys names and the other is "To which Parish Chargeable" which has what looks like St Michaels, Cornhill. As for name of parents, no names are given it just has "Father in the Workhouse". Their father is Thomas Vanhackovens
Would the Parish Chargeable be the Parish where the boys were baptised? I have not been able to find any baptism records and I don't know their mothers name. Would St Michaels have records that may not be on Ancestry or not yet digistised, maybe still in National Archives.
And any idea where I could find the name of the Workhouse where the father may be at this time.
Its also possible that their surname "Vanhackovens" is a very badly anglicised German or Dutch name
Thanks in advance for any help and advice!
Julie
