Was Lillie her mother's middle name, or her maiden name?

(In Scotland a married woman is normally referred to as aaa bbb or ccc where aaa is her given name(s), bbb is her maiden name and ccc is her husband's name. This pre-empts any potential confusion between her middle and her maiden surname.)

Have you looked for a marriage for her after the child's birth?

If no marriage - have you looked for her on the 1911 or 1921 censuses?  Where was the child on those censuses?

Her mother was Ann Lillie Stewart per parental marriage 1874

Agnes was b 1877 - not 1878

Ann Lillie Moffat - birth reg 1902 but her 1976 death reg shows born 20.12 1901

Many thanks, I have tried to find a marriage for Agnes, but can't seem to find anything after her being on the 1891 census.

I cannot find anything about her after the 1891 census. Her daughter married my Uncle Philip Hastie in 1920 in Berwick on Tweed.

So she was Ann Lillie Stewart or Moffat. Not as originally posted.

Complete longshot

Ann Lillie Moffat married in Berwick Northumberland 1920 & died as Ann Lily Hastie in Northumberland

The English 1911 census has this entry

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XWMB-MYQ

Look at the gap in ages & at Euphemia's age.  Lily was supposedly born Berwick but there is no English or Scottish birth reg under Strangeways.

Euphemia was formerly Smith & GRO online has no Strangeways/Smith birth between 1899-1903
