Ann Lillie Moffat born 20th December 1901 . Birth registered in January 1902. I have her birth certificate. Registered as illegitimate . Born High or Heigh Street Greenlaw. Mother Agnes Stewart Moffat. Cannot find any more information on Agnes after this. Cannot find either of them on the 1911 Scotland or England census. They both seem to have disappeared until Ann Lillie married my Uncle Philip Hastie in 1920 in Berwick. None of their children knew about Ann Lillie being illigitimate.

1911 census has George Moffat (63), Ann Lillie Moffat (60) and Ann Lillie Moffat (9) at Greenlaw, Berwick.
There is also an Agnes Moffat (33)(34), recorded twice, at Maxton, Roxburgh on 1911 census too.

Thanks for that. Sounds as if Ann Lillie was living with her grandparents in 1911.?

On the 1911 census George his wife Ann Lillie and Granddaughter Ann Lillie were living in High Street Greenlaw. High Street Greenlaw was where Agnes Stewart Moffat gave birth to Ann Lillie. Still can't find anything on Agnes Stewart Moffat after the birth of her daughter.

I have looked at the two  1911 census returns for Agnes Stewart Moffat but neither of them appear to be her.
Thanks anyway.
