1939 war register.

William Hood appears on this register on Anc*with a dob 13.11.1898 with wife Lilian and 2 redacted names. He also appears on this register on FindMyPast with I believe his daughter Joyce L whom I have her birth cert with dob 27.9.1920. Not being able to view the FindMyPast image does it possibly give a future married name.

You have the same problem that I had with my uncle not being on ancestry but is on FindMyPast.
The entry does not have anything other than the information you have given and I am having trouble finding any other records about Joyce L on ancestry or FindMyPast.

I can't see anything for the Joyce Lilian Hood born 1920 either. I found a marriage of a Joyce L Hood in Lambeth in 1940 but she was on the 1939 register in Lambeth too (born 1918). No other marriage or death  ???

Joyce L Hood is still with her parents in 1950/51 electoral register in West Sussex.

Joyce is still redacted on Ancestry, it takes a long time for opened entries to make it across from FindMyPast.  If a married name was entered then it would appear in the FindMyPast indexes and it doesn't.

This family went to the USA.

Thank you all for the replies. As Deirdre784 pointed out I started a post on the US board yesterday. From the replies to my post it appears Joyce at some time married a "Merrick" pre 1972. My post on the UK board re 1939 entry was to try and establish if her surname had been changed from Hood to Merrick, which it had not. I knew her parents had travelled to the United States in 1961, as per William's death certificate. Family "rumour" says parents went to US to support her and a child when she fell on difficult times, possible death of husband etc I really do not know.

Still trying to find a first marriage.

The 1939 National Register became the NHS Central Register from 1948.
It was updated by the NHS until the early 1990's; as and when they learned of changes.
A marriage in the US almost certainly was not notified to the NHS!

Meanwhile, as far as I know, Ancestry do an update once per year; whereas FindMyPast do updates more frequently.

I appreciate all your comments KGarrad, I was trying to establish if Joyce had married in the UK between 1939-51
