Hi all,
Bit of a last shot from me here at breaking this brick wall. I'm looking for a baptism for Benjamin Doughty. I've never been able to find one but today I've found him in the 1841 census where he's listed as Benjamin "Doughley" and as being born in Somerset. He's a baker who was born in 1770 according to his death certificate (census has him as 1776). He married Mary Ann Shrives in 1812 and all his children were born in Bedminster.
I've searched Ancestry and FindMyPast with a variety of different spellings but no luck. His age in 1812 makes me wondered if he'd married before? Another interesting thing is that there's a Frances Doughty Collis (sp?) who married Robert Marshall in 1858. The record lists Benjamin Doughty Collis (occupation: baker) as her father. I'm pretty certain this is the same man and Frances is his daughter, but I'm not sure where the alternate surname comes from. Not sure if that is any additional use.
