Ann Raper 1734 - 1793

Hi All,
Hope someone can help with this problem regarding Ann Raper born in Sawley Yorkshire and died in Dallowgill 1793. She married a John Ashby 1728-1801.

The problem is finding her correct father and mother. Her father is definately a Henry Raper of the Ripon Area born abt 1700 and died at Hungate Sawley in Ripon parish. Im sure Henry and his father Henry owned Hungate Farm in Sawley.
Any help in finding the correct Henry Raper and his wife would be of great help, a bit of a brick wall at present.

Ann Raper married John Ashby in Ripon Cathedral in June 1759, John was of the parish of Kirby Malzeard. Both signed x

You are correct, just to let you know ive updated Ann Rapers birth place as Sawley, possibly Hungate Farm.
Also Henry's father Henry Raper was born around 1680 in the Ripon area and died 1742 at Hungate Sawley, Ripon area.

Anns burial gives what I assume is her abode as Graygrete, she was buried at Kirby Malzeard.

Where does the information that Ann's father is named Henry come from, where and when did he die

Ann Raper was baptised in Ripon Cathedral 22 Jun 1734 daughter of Hen or Henry Raper of Sawley.
Ann died at Greygrete, Kirby Malzeard is correct also

Hope this helps, i have a copy of the official baptism doc if required.

Henry and his father is the problem.

I had assumed as you had not mentioned the baptism in your first post that you did not know exactly when it was and were just giving us the years without actual dates.  It does help us if you give all the information you have.

According to the Prerogative & Exchequer Courts Of York Probate Index, 1688-1858, there is a will for a Henry Raper of Hungate, parish of Ripon, which was proved in 1742.

I wonder whether it could shed any light on the subject?

Firstly to Rosie, my apologies for missing out the details but i was only trying to keep messages brief, i will give all details i have in the future.

Secondly to Queenie, thank you for that little piece of information, i have now ordered a copy of the will.

Just to confirm that there are many people getting mixed up with a Henry Raper from East Witton, this person is not the correct one i am looking for.
