Need help identifying Tabernacle Chapel Porth, District of Pontypridd
« on: Saturday 14 January 23 23:51 GMT (UK) »
Just received marriage entry from GRO for Evan Jones and Elizabeth Hughes, 1891, married in the Tabernacle Chapel Porth, District of Pontypridd.  It states it was certified by Idris Williams Registrar.  I'm not sure if the registrar is civil or a member of the chapel.  I'm having trouble identifying location of the chapel or its denomination if any, or if it still exists. I understand many chapels from 1800s don't exist any longer.  Thanks for any suggestions or help.

Did a look up for you in the newspaper archives and it seems to have been an English Baptist chapel (see snippet below from 1895).

Looks like it may still exist?:

I wonder if this is it - just north of Porth (above the "Ynyshir" on the map) 1901 map

Modified to add:
Possibly not if it was at the Hannah St address given in the link provided by Queenie.

that last article re: Mr Idris Williams is consistent with the registrar's name for the marriage record of Evan Jones and Elizabeth Hughes.  Thanks so much--I will check out the maps. :)

Thank you!  Visiting the chapel, if visitors are allowed, will make my trip to Wales to see where my family lived, and got married, more special.
