Joseph and Anne
« on: Sunday 15 January 23 11:28 GMT (UK) »
There is a Joseph Ellis marrying an Anne Newall in Shifnal 1721. They have 7 children in Shifnal parish. There are also 7 children from Wellington parish from 1738 also to a Joseph and Anne. Is this the same couple just moving to a different parish? The last child is born 1751 and there is also a death of Anne 1751 but cant see any details. Thanks.

Is this a different couple from your other thread:

You do seem to have a lot of Ellises in that area.

I;m not sure that they are the same couple.

For example ~

Wellington Baptisms
1 Jan 1751  Samuel  s of Joseph and Anne

25 Feb 1755 Sarah d of  Joseph and Anne

If they married in 1721, Anne would have been, possibly, in her 50s in 1755.

The  burial of Anne in  Shifnal in 1751 is of an infant as it gives the name of her mother (Mary)

Just about to post the same for Anne Ellis, buried on 16th June 1751, daughter of Mary. No father's name.

There was an Anne Newell born on 14th August 1701 in Shifnal and baptised on 22nd August, daughter of Richard and Ann. Richard Newell married Ann Samland in Shifnal on 3rd February 1700.

Anne, wife of Joseph, buried in Wellington on 9th December 1765. No age given.

Thanks. This must be the one born in 1701.

So Sarah died 1755? I had just tied in Sarah marrying Richard Smith in 1758 on the same day as her sister Elizabeth!!

Sarah was baptised in 1855. Have you checked  for marriages of Anne and Joseph in other parishes?

The only other marriage that I can find of a Joseph Ellis to an Ann(e)  in the wider Shropshire area for the time period was in Shrewsbury, St Alkmunds

4 Nov 1730  Joseph Ellis ( of Ercal Magna)  and Anne Craft (trnscribed but looks like Garbott? on the image) of the same parish.

Do you have a particular interest in one of the children? If so it might help us to help you.
