When were they born?
Have you found them on census returns?

I note that the last two children were baptised at Temple, Midlothian, if they died there no death records at Temple 1815 - 1855.

Hello Colin
"Alexander, lawful son of Alexander Smith, servant to Mr. Cranstoun of Harvieston and Isabel Chisholm was baptised in Borthwick parish on 14 July 1784 before witnesses Mr. Cranstoun and John Matheson, schoolmaster in Borthwick."

Borthwick OPRs: May 31, 1806 - "Alexander Smith and Agnes Dickson both in this parish gave up their names to be proclaimed in order to marriage.  These persons were married June 1st."

I found a possible birth for Agnes Dickson to Peter Dickson/May Tinto on 16 Dec 1770 in Borthwick parish.

With regards to the children's births, I have found the four on Scotlands People
MARION SMITH 03/06/1807 BORTHWICK parish
ALEXANDER SMITH 23/09/1809 BORTHWICK parish
ISABELLA SMITH 14/04/1812 TEMPLE parish
PETER SMITH 03/02/1815 TEMPLE parish
And the same names and dates with all four in  Borthwick OPRs

Also, a daughter Jane Smith was born 1822, she married in Gorebridge on 20 August 1843 to joiner Alexander Leadbetter, a native of Innerleithen, Peebleshire. She died 1894 in Newington parish age 73, her death certificate shows fa Alexander Smith and mo Agnes Smith nee Dickson.

I am unable to find a suitable 1841/1851 census for them; my best guess would be that they died in Temple before 1855, you could try the Kirk Session Records on SP?

I would think this might be a better baptism for Agnes?

Archie (Templar75) had developed a fantastic resource for Templar graveyard and burials etc. Sadly site is no longer available. Main thread here www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=366809.0

There is not much he didn't know about Templar Burials. Not been on RC since 2018 sadly. You could check with him via a PM. He may still be on the same email to receive notifications from RC.

ADDED: See you did come across and post on the thread  :)
