This is interesting  :D ....

Obituary  :   Mrs Jane PRISK

https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers/WC19461203.2.6

.... born Scotland in 1852 ... came with her parents to NZ in 1855 in the sailing ship "Matchless" .

[ Any idea how/why,  the ship "Westminster" has come to be associated with the BROOKIE/BROCKIE family's arrival ??      "Matchless" might be wrong - haven't found it yet.   Just curious.   ;D ]

Thanks Lucy.

The Westminster info came from an article in the Whanganui Chronicle in 2017 about the Brookie family at Parewanui, New Zealand.

That's where is mentions about Jane being younger than her brother Alexander.

Although everything now points to her being older, which if this is the case then she was born before her parents were married and will be difficult to find.

I failed to mention that I have too have Gerrie ancestors. Can you tell me Jane's parents and I'll have a look through my research records & see if we have a link? The newspaper articles are a great source of information. it's so handy confirming the name of the farm as the same as the one in Monquhitter.
Did you find Jane Gerrie & William Brockie in the 1851 censuses?

Jane Gerrie's parents were Ross GERRIE and Barbara HENDERSON.

She was born 1831 at Monquhitter.

GR2 found William in 1851, as mentioned in reply above after your first post.

Thanks, unfortunately I cannot find a link to my line of Gerries.
The only Gerrie death I found in Monquhitter, pre 1855, was a John Gerrie, son of Ross Gerrie. This would be Jane's brother. The date is 15 Sep 1844.  I am aware of Gerrie headstones in the churchyard of Cuminestown but  I haven't been there recently.
There is a death of a Ross Gerrie, dated15 Apr 1850, in the parish of Foveran. Have you viewed this? This could be Jane's father?
