Hi Queenie- sorry I hadnt forgotten you but I've been looking at that this afternoon (I'm off work at the moment with anaemia so have some spare time!)
So....there's a lot going on with the maternal tree so I will try to explain where I am and the brick walls I've come across;
1) I have a birth cert for Julia Ann Adams which confirms she was born on 7 August 1920. Names on the birth certificate are Fred Adams (Father) and Farm labourer; Lizzie Adams (formerly Richardson) is the mother. Residence of informant is Ings Lane, Cumberworth, Lincolnshire.
2) In 1939, I agree that Julia Adams was living at 73 Curzon Street, Nottingham with a Dora M Adams. I believe Dora is the Dora born on 15 June 1898 in Friskney/Spilsby Lincs. She also had a twin sister Ivy.
3) A Fred Adams is named as a sibling of Dora and Ivy on the 1901 census aged 12. I couldn't however find him on the 1891 or 1911 census records. I have this family down as the most likely fit for my neighbours ancestors but come unstuck when Fred is killed during WW1 (1917) and therefore cannot be Julia's father.
4) In 1939, Julia gives her status as married. We know that my neighbour's father was Jewish, and already married when Julia had him in 1942. No marriage records exist so we conclude that her married status is incorrect.
5) Julia did marry in 1946 but gave her status as "spinster!" She also gave her name as Julia Adams [***ene] the surname of the father of her first born son. This was incorrect.
6) Julia gave her father's name as Fred ***ene (again incorrect) and gave his profession as a printers traveller (according to her birth certificate he was a farm labourer!)
As you can see we have a few anomalies!!
Sadly Julia died in 1949 as did her husband. With no birth father on the scene, the boys were fostered and their records destroyed during WW2.
That's the story so far
You can probably see now why I'm struggling a little
