So now I have:
Maria Duff/Duffy m. John Thomson 04 Agu 1845 Lackage Galway Ireland.
Children:
John Thompson b.1846 in Antrim, Ireland
James Thompson b.1850 in Workington, Engand
Maria Thompson b.1851 in Workington, England
Jane Thompson b.1855 in Workington, England
Eliza Thompson b.1857 in Glasgow, Scotland
Willian Henry Thompson b.1858 in England
James Thompson b.1860 in Workington, England
Thomas Thompson b.1862 in Workington, England

Is it unusual for Eliza to be born Scotland in the middle of all the other kids who were born in England?  Could they have been visiting, not living there?  Eliza's birth cert says she was born 211 Garngard Road, Glasgow.  thanks.

The birth of Eliza THOMPSON, 1867, Scotland, is significant. You might hope for THOMPSON...DUFF...born Ireland to be in Glasgow. Using the street address and census records I am not able to land on anything.

Of interest, AIF enlistments, born Cumberland, finds James THOMPSON  #7714, age 48 years 7 months at Mar 1917.  Wife Emma THOMPSON at 594 Beaufort St.

Using Trove, son Thomas Albert THOMPSON dies 1916, family of 594 Beaufort Street

WA BDM births

THOMPSON  Godfreyd William Henry   ps  James THOMPSON / Emma Agnes MUNDWEILER

THOMPSON   Joseph Duff              ps  James THOMPSON / Emma Agnes MUNDWEILER

THOMPSON Thomas Albert                  ps  James THOMPSON / Emma Agnes MUNDWEILER

THOMPSON Charles Andrew Kaven   ps James THOMPSON   / Emma Agnes MUNDWIETER
1013   1910  Perth       born  Highgate Hill

The West Australian  20 Dec 1948  p1
THOMPSON: On December 18, at Sublaco, Emma Agnes, dearly beloved wife of the late James J.
Thompson and devoted mother of Jim (deceased), Ray, Willie (deceased), Joe, Bertie (deceased) and Charlie.

Interesting to see Duff as given name.

I suspect that James THOMPSON, AIF, is being creative about his age and is older than that.

Death of William HANN
HANN William
12012/1952
Parents Charles & Mary Josephine
At HAMILTON

Funeral notices for William HANN, husband of Ethel Maud give more hints of family including  Mr and Mrs J. THOMPSON and others who may offer extension of your inquiry.

https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/160204114

Charlie HANN, his father was a miner around the Croydon district who died in 1914. His son, known as William,  lived at Croydon, also a miner. On the E Roll with his mother in 1908.

Death Notice

So the family of William THOMPSON remained in the district after their husband/father died in 1901. That way Ethel met William HANN ;D.  There is Electoral Roll records which show (probably) them in the district of Atherton and Golden Gate.  Including Elizabeth Ann, James and William

Son of James and Emma Thompson, of 7, Violet St., West Perth, Western Australia. Born at Millchester, Charters Towers, Queensland.

Our first born dear Jim behold an angel of the Lord stood by him.

The connection to Charters Towers looks promising.
