I’m trying to trace 2 court records from 1893/4 but haven’t been able to find anything online. Anyone got any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi,
All I have is the following: 25/5/1893, his mother aged 25 a hawker and sentenced Wormworth Scrubs 3 months for theft. In 23/10/1894, a charwoman plead guilty to obtaining by false pretences.
£20 if called upon again.
It’s taken from a memorial on the Find a Grave website but I’m trying to locate the original records if possible. Any tips on where I might find them would be much appreciated.

If you are after a case tried at the Old Bailey you might be lucky with this site: https://www.oldbaileyonline.org/

Good luck with your search!

You must provide details of the offence/crime to establish where you need to be directed for a search.

Middlesex Sessions would be best checked in the LMA [London Metropolitan Archives] catalogue:-
https://search.lma.gov.uk/scripts/mwimain.dll? logon&application=UNION_VIEW&language=144&file=[WWW_LMA]home.html
see their Research Guide Nos 39/40  Main webpage above and menu top line.

Police Courts 'might' appear in local newspapers: Check FindMyPast for their newspaper collection link if you are a subscriber. It all depends on which part of London the case was heard!

There are no court cases, transcript or otherwise online except those for the Central Criminal Court, ie Old Bailey, and then only up to 1913.
