John of Daniel?  :-\

... or is it William of Daniel McCann  ???

There is some crossing out with the word "of" and then Daniel is inserted beside John and the word of. No other name I see on the lists is two-parted like John Daniel. Not sure what goes on there.

Full disclosure I have been researching my grandparents John Robinson and Rose Ann McCann of Tullylish.

Quote
Rose (Ann)   McCANN   .   Tullylish   married John Robinson of Tullyrain 10 Oct 1851 at a Tullylish Catholic Church ; mother of Edward bpt. 10 Jul 1852 & Sarah bpt. 30 Apr 1854 & Mary bpt. 21 Jan 1857 at a Tullylish Catholic Church

Rose was born about 1831 so just  out of the records which started me looking in the register for siblings. Right away I found Mary Jane McCann born 1833 to John and Mary. Then came George etc.

The only other McCann birth I saw in the years before 1844 was one with a father Patt McCann. There was a second John McCann who married a Mary Lavry in Feb 1844 ... it's possible that this is the same John and first wife Mary passed away before 1844.

It's possible that all the entries for John McCann Tullylish are the same person.

This baptism  of George is recorded as at Seapatrick parish, Co Down.  It's on the same day, same parents and sponsors.

Mary's surname looks like Trousel* or similar. The clearest that we have.

It's wider than the page so you'll have to use the slider.

* I could also see it as possibly Trondel

Yes, and that would agree with the name (according to my eyes) that was split across the line - reference snip posted in reply #23.

That is a great find! Very clear. I do see a d ...could be an s though.

Backing up. Here is Rose McCann's death cert that led me to searching for siblings close to 1833 start of records.

It's transcribed as Trousel but could be interpreted as a few different ones.

Yes, difficult to know if it is TrouDel or TrouSel. The writer has a couple of different methods for forming the letter d.
However, if we go back to the very first clip - the name there clear finished with "Dale"

So I would probably go for Troudel / Troudale.

I agree, Neal.  Spelling very much depended on the writer's interpretation/knowledge in those days.
