What can I say Ladyhawk..........A GREAT BIG THANK YOU VERY MUCH  ;D ;D

When I first started my tree I did copy part of another tree who had the same family members as myself. Costly mistake........the parts I copied were completely bogus and not related at all.......I never did that again. The time and effort rectifying the situation was immeasureable. Where ever possible I always back up any details or information with a record to verify the authenticity.

The information you provided in your last reply will certainly keep me busy researching to ensure that everything is correct, but at least it has given me a starting point which I didn`t have previously  ;)

Many sincere thanks Ladyhawk for your help and assistance  ;D ;D

Steve you are most welcome glad to have been of some assistance  :)

It was only following on from osprey’s great find of William’s possible Army record I thought I’d check to see if I could find the 1869 marriage to confirm his father’s name so you could then check if he was the correct person.

Following on from the census info I posted for children

Charles W Cobb   1870   British Armed Forces And Overseas Births And Baptisms Monaghan, Ire

Mary J Cobb   1875   Rawalpindi   India   REG1   Gro Regimental Birth Indices (1761 To 1924)
Maude Cobb has the same details as above (probably twins)

Beatrice S   Cobb   1877   Murree   India   REG1   Gro Regimental Birth Indices (1761 To 1924)

Agnes L   Cobb   1880   Cliffden   India   REG1   Gro Regimental Birth Indices (1761 To 1924)

Albert H   Cobb   1882   Portsmouth England   REG1 Gro Regimental Birth Indices (1761 To 1924)

No Mabel A Cobb b1884 listed

All the above Cobbs are listed together same vol 1009  page 26 , Regiment 17th Foot
Record set British Armed Forces And Overseas Births And Baptisms  from  F M P

Thank you very much Ladyhawk for your latest reply and the information you supply  ;D

Also like to reiterate my thanks to osprey as well  ;D

Just going through your previous reply Ladyhawk ( quoted one above ) and digesting the details, Did Mary Jane remarry or just take the Colbourne name, I ask this because the 1891 Census of Market Street Northampton including the Cobb children states Mary J   Colbourne   Wife   1852   -   Edinburgh, Scotland. I assumed she was Irish  ???

Looks like I am going to be busy trying to fathom that one out  ;)

Mmm....I believe she is the same Mary Jane nee Terry born c 1851 even though her pob is different

1921 Mary Jane Colbourne born 1850 pob Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland
1911 Mary Jane Colbourne born 1851 pob Monaghan Ireland
1901 Mary Colbourne        born 1851 pob Ireland
1891 Mary J Colbourne      born 1852 pob Edinburgh Scotland

I did find a possible brother born Monaghan and their parents marriage (I sent to you via pm) on the Irish Genealogy site also checked for a possible birth on Scotland People but nothing stands out

If this is her death she was born c1852

COLBOURNE, MARY  JANE  age    76
GRO Reference: 1928  M Quarter in HACKNEY  Volume 01B  Page 652

Charles & Mary Jane could well have been living together and not married as mentioned I only found 1888 Hackney Colbourne/Cobb marriage entry on FreeBMD but her middle name Ann  ???

Perhaps someone might have access if the marriage is available on Anc*y to check if they married each other and if so, was her father named William

Added a possible match on the censuses for the other couple on the 1888 Hackney marriage entry

1891 - Median Road, Hackney
Thomas J Trigg Head   1867   Letter sorter      London, Middlesex
Mary E Trigg Wife   1845   Living own means Burton on Trent

1901 - 226, Wood Street, Walthamstow, West Ham
Thomas J   Trigg   Head   1866   Sorter g p o   Lambeth, Surrey
Mary E Trigg   Wife   1846   Fancy draper   Burton on Trent

Thomas' middle name James and Mary's middle name is Ellen on the 1911 census (married 22 years)

Thank you William for posting the marriage details

I wonder why her middle name is listed as Ann  ??? She married William Cobb as Mary Jane Terry (minor) father William Terry
