WW2 Service Record Help
« on: Saturday 28 January 23 23:04 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I have been going through my grandfathers service records and I have come across a section I am unable to read fully.

I read it as -

Mastered as clerk (3) _?_ No 8 _?_  _?_ Attd to _?_  _?_  _?_  _?_  _?_ Posted

Ceased to be mastered as tradesmen clerk _?_  _?_ of 8 SM _?_ ceased to _?_ Attd _?_  _?_ transferred to RASC _?_

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks Mark

Mustered as Clerk (III) at No:8 Stat Depot att'd to B i/c details Kasr-el-Nil bks

Kasr-el-Nil barracks was in Cairo

Puzzling over "Stat Depot" and "Sty Depot". Possibly Stationery Depot.

Authy:- C(or G?)HQ 2nd Ech MEF
11/5/42

I don't know either what the Sty or Stat Depot

Tip:
For easier working (for us) it is great if you can follow the setting out on the document ie new lines where there are new lines on the document.

Tip 2 These old records, and records back from about the 1970s when punctuation was standardised and lessened, have lots of interesting abbreviations and punctuation.  It is always good to replicate these.
