Hanora Murphy
« on: Sunday 29 January 23 20:28 GMT (UK) »
My relative Hanora Murphy born Kilmichael Co Cork Ireland 10th April 1831 D 25th April 1919 Oak Park Cook Illinois.
I have all information on Hanora & her family apart from her marriage to Joseph D Bedenbecker (name later changed to Baker) born in Germany
1870 Census family are in Jeffersonville Clark Indiana. Eldest child Hattie Baker b c 1860 so marriage probably sometime prior to this.
As I am missing details of Hanoras marriage it would be appreciated if anyone could locate it. Thank you

In 1870
Joseph’s birthplace was Maryland (so not consistent with Germany).  Occupation - Painter
Hattie, born c1860, Illinois
Mary E (Joseph’s daughter) born c1865, Ohio

An online tree has:
Joseph W Bedenbecker Baker
Wife Frances Burgess
Son Hedwig, born c1859
Daughter Hattie, born c1860

Could this be that family?
1860 Quincy Ward 5, Adams, Illinois
Joseph Bedenboker, age 28, born Switzerland. ? Painter
Inferred spouse - Frances Bedenboker, age 26
Inferred child - Hedrick Bedenboker, age 1
Frances Gersewiller, 60

Indiana Marriages (Anc*try)
Joseph Bedenbecker
Marriage Date   9 January 1856
Marriage Place   Indiana, United States
Spouse   Frances Gerschwyler

Could the above be about your Joseph?  Was your Hattie actually Hanora’s stepdaughter?  Could Hanora’s marriage be c1863, Ohio?

From your reply, it appears that you already knew about Joseph/Frances and the possibility of the marriage to Hanora occurring c1863, Ohio.  I tried a quick search for a marriage c1863 with no results; but, perhaps you and others have also searched c1863, Ohio.  It also appears that Joseph’s and Frances’ children were baptized in a Roman Catholic Church in case you didn’t know.  Best of luck with your searches.

Added: again, you may already have found this, but could Hattie actually be Maria Francisca Hedwig, born 1859 (which would most likely mean that her mother was not Hanora), putting Hanora’s marriage possibly after 1860.

Hi Lisa family were never aware of the marriage you mention of Joseph to Frances Gerschwyler. Yes you are correct ref Hedwick being Maria Francisca. Seems strange there is no record apparent for Josephs marriage to Hanora. Thank you for your help.
