I like chips and cheese would never have thought of adding gravy
Had a huge fish n chips last night and there are plenty of leftover chips but would it be sacrilege to celebrate Manx day late and without the gravy ?

Pleased to test negative for covid yesterday but this flu seems stronger than the usual strains so I'm cancelling all my Tues and Thurs activities to be on safe side . Weds was free anyway .

Soggy chip shop chips are the best! Love them!

Diana, I can’t remember how I first heard about poutine - may have been through daughter’s boyfriend whose father is (French) Canadian. As far as I know they don’t eat poutine though..  :)

I fancy some poutine but curds are not widely available here - can I be bothered making them? Probably not.

Not all gravies are created equal - some chip shop gravies are yummy, others not so much.  :)

Your weather sounds lovely at the moment Caroline - sunny but crisp. Lovely.  By contrast it is horrible, hot, airless and humid here.

Diana, I heard about poutine on an episode of WDYTYA (UK) with Katherine Ryan.

I tend to only have the classic fish and chips.

My grandmother grew up in Toronto (New South Wales).  No poutine :D

Don't worry Viktoria, what's a sell by date either side of the date shown

Was a nice brisk sunny morning, actually  got my bedding  out till it clouded over but sun is out again , it makes so much difference to see a bright day.

I have been looking at the Radford family recipes,  ( father of 22 children), the recipes need scaling  down a bit but they  look really appetising, might give them a go.

My own grandparents lived in Canada, my father was born there, and my grandmother always made the most fantastic waffles! As a child, I loved them. We found her waffle irons many years later, my mother tried to make them, she'd seen her do it, often, even here in England, but she never got them as good.
My father said "Poutine" wasn't anything to shout home about!

I microwaved my leftover chips and added a bit of soy sauce for my lunch today .There were lots of crispy bits .I think I should have added an egg or opened that emergency tin of salmon .to" keep the wolf from the door " as my gran would say .

I think I'm going to need a  special 4pm.high tea for invalids
Hot lemon and new honey ( last week's batch from beekeeper ) plus a sprinkling of turmeric
And then chocolate cake to keep up morale .

I've missed a well being conference today !

& Am being asked to organise an amateur docu-drama about the 1944 murder in my alleyway . The script is only half written and filming begins 11th February and I haven't allocated roles . The person who now lives in the victim's house is actually an actor and a criminologist  he's too old to be the murderer but would be an excellent narrator . Policeman or reporter . I'm too old to Bethe victim but have the perfect outfit for her

Hurrah!  After five miserable weeks of sore throat, lost voice and rattling chesty cough I'm finally free of whatever it was (not Covid -tested negative, not flu - didn't have a temperature, not a runny nose kind of cold either).  And whatever it is is doing the rounds in my neighbourhood and affecting lots of people.  It's quite exhausting, mostly because you can't sleep at night - you're too busy coughing - but also coughing like that takes a lot out of you.  My husband moved out to the spare room to get some peace at night!   :(

That is good news Gilig, and how interesting brigidmac .

Well my braised steak was really nice, used my old Pressure cooker, onions ,carrots ,celery , herbs ,stock cube .20 minutes and melt in your mouth tender.
Quite a bit left so perhaps a meat and potato pie tomorrow.
I have never bought neat from Aldi before but went in to get their open smaller mushrooms and saw the meat fridge and there it was.
Thick cut and a good dark colour ,firm .
I shall buy it again.£3-95 .

Well can reduce the drops again and end them very soon.
Just twice a day pressure lowering ones and as many as I like of the dry eye drops. That will always be the same.
I am lucky to have had such good care.

Well baby Kyra is coming on and they will be up for a visit in about two
weeks .
I am looking forward to that.
Eldest son is feeling much better after several sessions with Chiropractor, so that is good after at least seven years of continual pain.

Grandson starts his new job with no weekend work as Flash Harry was getting upset , he is lovely with Kyra, but he and his daddy- my grandson - are very close. They will just have to budget ,which they do already ,but it will pay off in happy children .
Grandson has always been very involved ,when FH was born he already had Sepsis from leaked Meconium.
He was  on 2,000 units of antibiotics at a day old.
His chances were very slim .
But he pulled through ,Bolton Hospital was marvellous .
Grandson nursed him every minute as mum was not well either.
Took time to build up his natural resistance but they did.
So FH is special.

Hope everyone is O.K.

Cheerio, I miss photographs of the amazing twins , little miracles .
I love baby photographs .
Viktoria.

P.S ,Gillg ,I can sympathise, mine starts early hours, dry and tickley,I find anything like NipIts ,tiny black menthol and liquorice sweets in a tiny tin, are good .Vick under your nose .Anything menthol.
But so tiring.
Hope you feel better soon.
Viktoria,
