Hi All, I wonder if you could solve a problem for me?
Joseph Henry Drant, born 1819  in Hull had 3 sons to Charlotte Dawson.
1. John Henry Drant, born 1834, baptised 26-2-1837
2. William Melchoir Drant, baptised 26-2-1837
3. William Maddison Drant, baptised 26-2-1837
Obviously it would seem they were all baptised on the same day, but when were they born and perhaps when did they die, and why would they have 2 sons named William. Unless one of them died early in life.
Any information would be appreciated.

Charlotte appears to be their only child in 1871 but the following all have mmn Hatfield

Hi all, thank you for you replies, most welcome.
I'm still surprised that a parent would name their 2 boys both William and have the same letter 'M' as their middle name.
I'm also amazed how many boys are named John, Joseph or William.
Tracing the family tree opens all sorts of questions as well as answers.

Fairly sure they didn;t

Comberton posted yesterday that the image on Find My Past shows only two baptisms

Ancestry has two pairs of baptisms indexed in the one collection

William Melchoir and John Henry at St. James, Holy Trinity, Hull
William Maddison and John Henry at St. James, Hull

That looks to me like two different indexes of the same register, and the indexers have interpreted William's middle name differently. We know from other sources that Maddison is correct - Melchoir is likely to be an error
