Thanks Garsonite and BumbleB, Following the response from QueenoftheWest I began checking my findings and also looking further, but only using FamilySearch; so in getting totally confused, I was not aware of your replies.

Thank you for posting such full explanations. Ann Birtles, Knutsford I had found, but could not make it fit, as I was not aware of the marriage. If they are the parents, Goulden will be Goulding and there could well be two called John Goulding in Davenham. Even within the census records, Goulding is spelt different ways. Throughout there has been confusion as related families all named their children the same and in the same order.
