Date of photo - Could be a Stobbs relative

Can anyone date the photo. And how old do you think the man is. Thank you.

Can you read the name of the photographer?  It looks to me like SPEED PHOTO Co. of Nth Shields & Sth Shields (but my eyesight ain't wot it woz!).  This could narrow down a date range unless the clothing style experts here can provide dating.  As for the man's age I estimate 30-45, most probably mid-thirties.

Quite a few advertisements for the "Speed Photo Co" at 122 Ocean Rd, South Shields. From about 1906.

I think he looks a little younger - late 20s? (Could well be wrong though!)

Yes, it is SPEED PHOTO Co. of Nth Shields & Sth Shields.

My dilemma is that it could be the father who was born in 1881 or his son born 1903.  I do have other photos of them and they are like two peas in a pod. I know the father abandon his wife and children and he moved to Castleford in Yorkshire in 1926 with his new partner.  I also know he came back to South Shields on visits.

His clothing suggests about  1905 +/- a few years either side. He's wearing a muffler, which makes it difficult to see the collar and tie. However, the card stock looks earlier e.g. the studio name , etc.

Is it possible to scan the back?

I'd say he looks in his early 30s.

I'll PM Jim to see if he can have a look.

Maybe about 1910, give or take a year or two and I think he looks to be in his 30s. Jim will have a better idea though.
