The back of the photo "POST CARD - Left side "This space to be used for Inland Correspondance" and on Right side "The Address only to be written here".  I've not got my scanner set up.

The divided back postcard was introduced in 1902 in the UK, to allow them to be posted with a message without the need for an envelope.

I agree this looks Edwardian rather than 30's which
it would have to be if it were the son.
