I am thinking she might be at the hospital. She’s not on the 1939 register with her father. Her name is Doris May Francis b 30 March 1922, East Wickham (Dartford Registration Area)
She trained at St Nicholas Hospital, Tewson Road, Plumstead

Was that her maiden name or am I just missing her birth registration  :-\

I trust now Nellie you have found her in Oxford (Probationer Nurse) - well away from the events of London's 'Black Saturday' 7th Sept 1940 and the other goings-on by the Germans especially for St Nicholas hospital 10th Sept where I find at least 3 people who can probably be attributed to a bomb on innocent civilians at that hospital.
As yet the woke brigade haven't told everyone to rename that day which lives on in infamy for all those who suffered that day.

Thank you Copper1…would you believe it…I haven’t. I am using Ancestry and have tried all sorts of combinations of Doris and Simpson and 1922 and nurse and hospital etc! 🙄 Was she resident at a hospital

OK I don't currently use Ancestry but here's a theory.
Try searching the nurse above where I find Doris:
Vera Shirley DOB 11.6.1922 hopefully she isn't mis transcribed and you'll see Doris below. Her 'S' for Simpson may have been 'bungled'  ;D

Her entry is still redacted on Ancestry, unfortunately. She is at the City Isolation Hospital.

You referred to her by her married name 'Francis', but the only marriage I can find between a Doris M Simpson and a male Francis is in Oxford in 1945? The other post that Rosie linked said that this bombing happened in 1944?
