William Page and Sarah Elton
« on: Friday 10 February 23 20:28 GMT (UK) »
I'm hoping someone might be able to help here. I am trying to find christenings for these two people possibly in the Newbury area. Here's what I know:

William Page [or Paidge] married Sarah Elton at Newbury on 22 July 1655. The only christenings I can find for William so far are one in Sandhurst in 1599, and two in Reading [1608 and 1610]. Both these seem too far away from Newbury and too early. Can anyone suggest any others?

Sarah Elton is a bigger mystery. At the moment I can't find any christenings for any Sarah or Sara Eltons in Berkshire at all.

Can anyone offer any suggestions here?

Thanks for any ideas.

Matt

Elton may not have been her birth name.

Or she could have dropped a letter so it was Helton for example.

According to Berks FHS some registers do not cover the period you are after for Newbury parish

That's a good point. I did wonder about the name and wondered if "Helton" may be a variation. I will keep it in mind.

Ohh that's not good news but at least I know. Obviously they may have been from elsewhere too so I will keep my eyes open in case I spot anyone in another parish.
