publican/innkeeper
« on: Sunday 12 February 23 08:33 GMT (UK) »
Hello , a bit of a long shot again. We know by the marriage cert of Mary Jones in 1893 that her father is given as a publican , the marriage took place at Machynlleth . I wondered if the was a list of pubs with landlords names or similar so we can pinpoint him ?
Any ideas would be very welcome
Regards
Alan
ps his name was John Jones

Historical Directories
Slater's Directory of North & Mid Wales 1895
John Jones, Red Lion P.H, Maengwyn Street, Machynlleth

However, checking the 1891 Census the Innkeeper is a John Williams. I haven't checked the 1901 Census.
What was Mary's address on the cert?

See top col 4  - "Edward Jones, tenant of Red Lion Inn, Maengwyn Street ...". Haven't read in full but think Edward is John Jones' son?

Checked for Edward at the "Red Lion" 1901 Census. Could only see an Edward Jones at the White Horse Hotel, Maengwyn St.
