Horwood of Chesham
« on: Sunday 12 February 23 13:17 GMT (UK) »
Henry Horwood died in 1847. His death certificate gives the cause as ‘temporary insanity’ which I understand means he killed himself. There is no mention of an inquest, merely that the cause of death was certified. A search of the British Newspaper Archive has drawn a blank. Does anyone know if there was a local paper at that date?
His son Benjamin was, I believe, Constable of Chesham. His name in that capacity occurs in various newspaper reports from around the early 1850s. Are there likely to be any records of his appointment?

Can't help with a report about Henry's death, however just to note that the earliest I can see a reference to Constable Benjamin HORWOOD is 1845.  :)
