Diary Summary Week Ending 19 February 2023
« on: Sunday 12 February 23 22:39 GMT (UK) »
Good morning from South Australia.

I hope you don't mind my starting a new week!
It is a beautiful day here right now. Not a cloud in the sky and a temperature of 25 degrees forecast, which is cool for this time of year.

All my horses are fed, watered and the poos picked up.
I have arranged gates so that they can move around to find shade which they will need when it hits 38 degrees later this week.

Now off to water my garden. I have vegie plots in raised beds and pots here on the farm, under shadecloth.
Our soil is not good-sand over limestone.

After having a bad health scare last year I have finally found more energy (with help from great vitamins and the gym).
At 73, You have to pay attention to your body!
So to anyone not feeling well, please look after yourself.
Cheers
Chris

I just realised why no one is posting after me....I think.
It's the new week here down under and the old week up there!

Greetings from Auckland, where we're in the middle of Cyclone Gabrielle. Never seen anything like this before in my 40+ years of living in New Zealand. I guess we won't be asked to conserve water for the rest of this summer!

I'm fairly new on Rootschat and have only just discovered this page. It's wonderful to find out what others are doing around the world. Hope I can contribute again when I'm not anticipating a power outage!

They’re probably just waking up on Monday morning Chris.  ;)

Welcome griffo. I didn’t even realise NZ had cyclones till this one - at least I don’t recall hearing anything about them in over the years.  It’s all you need after the recent flooding. I heard about power outages. Hope you are safe.

Thank you Ruskie, yes I think I'm as safe as possible, where I live there's little chance of flooding so lucky with that, but the wind is pretty scary. According to the news, only another 24 hours!

Well good morning from those of us who live on the other side of the planet!
Welcome griffo always nice to see new posters!

Well your part of the world is certainly suffering at the moment… last year it was all the flooding in Australia and now NZ… can’t imagine what it’s like.

Gosh you've got so much done Chrissie, and I'm here just having breakfast!  Well done on being the first to start this week.  Mare from NZ did the honours last week.
Welcome to the diary Griffo, it is always nice to have someone new join in:) That does sound scary to be experiencing a cyclone. :o I am glad you feel safe; I hope you can continue to feel safe.  Take care.
My weather forecast site is still showing a big yellow sun symbol for today. There is the slightest hint of a blue sky outside my window so you never know.
I'm on nightshift tonight.  So there's a lot I could potentially do in the meantime; albeit nothing too tiring as I have a long night ahead. I feel like hibernating in this cold weather like the squirrels are said to (although, I have seen some scampering about occasionally).  I'll have a cup of tea and then perhaps I'll feel a bit more oomph after that.

Ps Good morning to Ruskie & Caroline too   :) - you just posted as I was typing mine.  Hope you enjoyed the football yesterday, Caroline.
I have a family member who is going to NZ on holiday in a few weeks.  I am feeling a bit apprehensive for her.  Hopefully, this weather situation will be better by then.

Hi Griffo,
It's a bit scary over your way at the minute.      I have been keeping an eye on what's happening to the North Island as my daughter's fiance's family are all from Hawke Bay.
All ok so far.
Welcome to Rootschat Griffo, we all strive to help one another and there are some very knowledgeable people here.     They have helped me immensely and broken down a 15 year brick wall! Plus traced my family back to the 1600's in Sweden. Very good records there.

Ruskie, just a tad slow today!

Cheers,
Chris

PS.... Why has my number of posts not changed for ages?   Been 242 for a long time.

Morning all
Sunny north east England today and 9.30 am Monday here, though there was a hard frost during the night ( frozen on the cars).
Chris the reason your post numbers might not have changed is only certain forums count as posts. I can't remember  where I read that,  but it's things like the common room and lighter things don't count as posts, but serious query boards do. Someone else will be along in a bit to tell you what counts where I'm sure.
Welcome to Griffo.
Off to switch the washing machine on - still helping daughter out as hers isn't mended yet.
