I can't readily see any birth/baptism for John, but his burial records says that he was 78 when he was buried on 28 December 1817 which indicates a birth in the region of 1739 rather than 1745.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

If you don't ask the question, you won't get an answer.

Thank you Bumbleb,

I have that information, but didnt work out his DoB. Really need help in finding his correct mother & father, many thanks. As usual records are sometimes lost or very illusive and as usual John may not have been born in Newton on Ouse.

Regards

All,
After searching FindMyPast, it looks like there are a couple of possibilities, Seth Lofthouse 1704-1794 from Whitkirk who had a son John born 1739 and Robert Lofthouse in Tadcaster who had a son John born 1740. Difference in milage from Newton on Ouse is about 18 miles from Tadcaster or 25 miles from Leeds.
Any help would be a great bonus.
Many thanks
Mike
