Colne burials
« on: Monday 13 February 23 08:49 GMT (UK) »
If by any chance anyone has access to burial records for Colne I’d be very grateful if I could know whether either of the following are buried there:

William Sayers (died in Leeds 25 February 1906) who may have been buried in Colne because a son lived there and William’s widow went back to live with him.

Frances Sayers, died at Carry Bridge, Colne, 8 March 1907.

I think it unlikely that they would have a headstone.

Leeds to Colne - Long way to transport a body in those days - approx 35 miles.  Would take around an hour by car these days so a lot longer back then

Maybe transported by train? However, unless there was a private burial plot in Colne, which seems unlikely, it is maybe more likely that he’d have been buried somewhere in Leeds and just Frances in Colne.
