Still looking for more information on Charles, but I finally managed to find Eliza and children on the 1841 census:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MQVG-93Z

Queenie  :)

Thanks,

The children who we seem to have found are all missing from this census.  Some would have only been early or pre teens so I wonder where they are?
I lived in Ardwick, Manchester in the early 1960s as a small child and much travelling of the world has now led me to want to know more about my roots. Carter, Beckwith, Connolly, Heron and Kelly are all names that form part of my family tree.

The newspaper report of Charles Wrights insanity doesnt really tell the full story. Amongst other things it says he thought he was the Duke of Yorks son yet fails to mention he was a wine merchant to the royal family and had been at The Dukes funeral in an offical capacity. Charles clearly knew some royal protocols but unfortunately took these ithoughts way too far.

An obituary of one of his sons states that Charles was a member of the honourable corps of gentlemen and would have had some access to the royal family. I cannot find anything about this but it does explain some of his comments at the court proceedings.

Just had to share this. The wife of George William Pudsey Wright went on to marry a General George Palmer Whish in Bengal India. He himself was born in 1814 in Northwold Norfolk. His father being the Rev Richard Whish. Now the punchline. Believe it or not my 1st cousin Robin Hood has lived in this rectory for the last 28 years. History going around in circles. :)

Difficult to find definitive proof of being in the Corps of Arms given all the wonderful stories...report about death of Mr Charles Freake in 1884  "He married in 1844  Eliza Pudsey, eldest daughter of Mr Charles Wright, one of the Hon. Corps of Gentleman at Arms, and sister of Brigadier General Sir Thomas Wright CB."
