Difficult to find definitive proof of being in the Corps of Arms given all the wonderful stories...report about death of Mr Charles Freake in 1884  "He married in 1844  Eliza Pudsey, eldest daughter of Mr Charles Wright, one of the Hon. Corps of Gentleman at Arms, and sister of Brigadier General Sir Thomas Wright CB."

Cathy

Thanks. I had seen this report. I have done some searches for The Corps of Gentlemen and cannot find any records for the period concerned. Charles seemed to know a lot about royal procedures and I doubt would have gleaned these from just being a wine merchant to the Royals.
I lived in Ardwick, Manchester in the early 1960s as a small child and much travelling of the world has now led me to want to know more about my roots. Carter, Beckwith, Connolly, Heron and Kelly are all names that form part of my family tree.
