I'm assuming you have already seen this but, for others, His Royal Navy service record provides a bit more information:
https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D6991228

He was born on 17th November 1897 in North Dublin, and his occupation was sawyer.

His entry in the UK, World War I Pension Ledgers and Index Cards, 1914-1923 index gives his residence as Middle Third, Killester.

No obvious hits on irishgenealogy.ie; the only Christopher Phoenix on there was born in Dublin in 1906 and died in 1922, aged 16.

Sorry, scrub that.
A pension card gives an address for Christopher Phoenix of Middle Third, Killester, Dublin.

Would be helpful if you told us what you already know & exactly what further info you are looking for - saves wasting time duplicating info

No obvious entry on the Irish 1901 or 1911 census but there are US entries showing for that name

What is your interest/connection to him?

found a few additional details - some interesting possible connections, might be useful for establishing possible links or elimination purposes

The birth of that unnamed child that dublin1850 located, baptism (early 1892 pro cathedral) notes name as Christopher Richard

I believe Killester housing scheme including Middle-Third (with Abbeyfield and The Demesne) was built just after the first World War, these appear to have included ex-servicemen's cottages (Irish Times - may require subscription), maybe where Christopher retired to in 1918 ?

there's a death of a 'Richard Phoenix' widower at Ballinteer south county Dublin in 1968, occupation noted as 'retired sailor'  , burial at Deansgrange notes the same occupation, his age is recorded as 77 which would give a year of birth of about 1890. The informant for the death is a son John.

The wife of this Richard Phoenix was Margaret, who died the year before, also buried in Deansgrange.

Richard Phoenix married Margaret Gaskin at Blackrock, county Dublin in 1913, occupations for the couple are sailor and 'laundry', father's names Richard Phoenix and James Gaskin

added : found a C. Phoenix at 32 Middle-third (street) Killester in Thom's 1932

Hi All

Thanks for your replies and help.

I am the the Chairman of the Dublin WFA and our monthly lecture tomorrow is about the Killester Garden Village that was built just after WW1 for veterans. The speaker is researching the village and its occupants of which Christopher was one, the only document he and I have been able to find is his RN Service record mentioned by Queenie.

However, the info supplied by athacliath62 looks really promising and I will pas this onto the speaker.

Once again, thanks for your help and replies.

Regards

Ian Chambers

There's a separate Royal Navy record in ADM188 for Richard Phoenix, place of birth 'Dublin', date of birth for him is a little off, 26th December 1892 vs actual date 28th December 1891.

At the end of the record there's a notation re 'joined R.F.R. 15th Mar 1919    Dev B 6713'
