Help with finding James and Eliza Green after 1884
« on: Tuesday 14 February 23 16:53 GMT (UK) »
Eliza Ann Green, nee Mitchell, was born in Gosberton in 1859 and married James Green, a painter, in Wragby, Lincs. in 1884 when he was 23. I can’t find them after that but hopefully someone will see something I’m missing.

Thanks,

Dave

The family in 1901:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X9PT-LSN

And 1891:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:7NGT-XW2

The birth places are a bit muddled up, but the birth registration for Arthur confirms her maiden name was Mitchell:

GREEN, ARTHUR       MITCHELL

Just to perhaps clarify - marriage - 20 July 1884 - James Green, 23, Painter, father - William, Labourer.  Eliza (no mention at all of "Ann") Mitchell, 24, father - Jacob.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Thanks Queenie, it does look like it, and Eliza had a mother Harriet, after whom their daughter is probably named. How bizarre that her birthplace is given as Peterborough (and the wrong county given for that city too!). I’ll try and find him in Gosberton before marriage - maybe he was from Peterborough and the enumerator mixed up their birthplaces.

EDIT Sorry, I see now that their birthplaces were correct in 1891.

Dave :)
