Birmingham born in Manchester or Hambleton ?
« on: Friday 17 February 23 08:34 GMT (UK) »
I'm trying to find something about Ellen Birmingham b. 1822 or about. Wife of Thomas Robertson b. 1819. Found in 1851 census in Leeds, mother of Sarah. 1847. Birthplace Manchester. In 1861 census, also in Leeds her birthplace reads like Hambleton or Hamberton which is struck through. The only town of Hambleton I can find is in Rutland,
Searching in Manchester for the name Birmingham I came across a marriage 1813 of Thomas Birmingham and Martha Hambleton. Could it be that Ellen Birmingham was confused and gave her mother's name instead of her birth place ?

Sarah 1847 appears to be under Robertson, but no mmn.

At least both names are on the same index page.

If anyone has access to parish records -

Venue from Marriage Locator says - St Mary Abbots, Kensington

Marriage Locator Search Results
GRO Index: 1837 quarter 3, volume 3, page 148:

This marriage was at Kensington St Mary Abbots (RD: Kensington).
