It is Fanny's stone b. May 30, 1865 d. July 21, 1935 as per her death cert. Included on that
stone are children Minnie and Percy with their birth and death dates.

Think of it the same as an obituary would appear, Fanny beloved wife of William.

I think Kevin has mis - read the inscription on the stone.  As you say dbree it is Fanny Hollingshead Jones date of birth and death not William's.  The children's names check out with what we know from census.

DBree,

Thank you. I understand that the 'beloved wife of' part but what is confusing me is the 49 years difference in his death dates!

From William's headstone:
BIRTH 12 Jan 1854 England
DEATH 28 Mar 1900 (aged 46) Ontario, Canada

From Fanny's headstone:
Beloved wife of
WILLIAM JONES
BIRTH 30 May 1865
DEATH 21 July 1955 (?)

I believe the Find-A-Grave entry has the wrong date on William's headstone as I believe it should read 1906 not 1900 (in the actual Find-A-Grave entry text).

I have a couple of certificates on their way but I thought William was born around the time of the individual headstone (ie 1854) so that headstone makes sense for him. The entry on Fanny's just confuses me (easy to do I assure you)

Sorry this cam ein while I was replying to Dbree. I agree Fanny's headstone is the correct one. My confusion isn't about that. My confusion is the dates given for her husband William.

I guess it could be a mistake.

There is no dates for William Jones on Fanny's stone ?  The date is the 21 July 1935 - go back to reply 1 and look at the date on the death certificate for Fanny. That is the date on the stone.

The only dates for William are on the other stone 12 Jan 1854 - We all agree that it isn't 1900 it is clearly 1906
